The concept of 'YEHE' was established in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire in 1998. It is primarily on the thematic level, an original word Yacouba (language of the mountainous region west of Côte d'Ivoire) which means 'sewing'. The creators of 'YEHE', true lovers of fashion, have invested to enhance its image as polluted by the insertion of this profession in the process of economic and social development of Côte d'Ivoire.
Like organizations reliable and relevant, the 'YEHE' began in the year 2002 a remarkable evolutionary phase with the help of the National Commission for UNESCO Côte d'Ivoire, under the leadership of its Secretary General Madame Odette YAO YAO. With the help of the National Committee UNESCO-CI and other partners, YEHE totals to date more than 600 sewing machines distributed to local and foreign artists.
