KING KIKI & WAZE SUGU
Rumba/Muziki wa Dansi

King Kiki is one of the legends of Tanzanian Rumba. He started playing twist in 1958 and later joined the rumba/muziki wa dansi craze in the 70s and 80s. Hailing from Congo, like many of the Tanzanian stars at the time, King Kiki teamed up with the late guitar legend Ndala Kasheba. He has just returned from a long tour in the US. His hits include ‘Kitambaa Cheupe’, ‘Salamule’, Koko and many more.

MZUNGU KICHAA
Bongo Flava/World
Mzungu Kichaa means “the crazy white man”. Crazy because the danish born singer flows in fluent kiswahili. He continues to play an important role on the Tanzanian urban scene. His passion and knowledge of Tanzanian music led him to be selected as one of the three judges on last years Bongo Star Search. Mzungu Kichaa and his band Bongo Beat have performed throughout East Africa as well as two European tours.

LEO MKANYIA
Swahili Blues
Leo Mkanyia is a young and promising musician with a unique sound. His sound is inspired by his Tanzanian heritage and his love for the guitar and American blues. Last year he performed a string of successful performances in the UK and returned to Tanzania inspired and invigorated. After his performance at THE BEAT he will perform at Sauti za Busara on Zanzibar. This is not the acoustic Leo Mkanyia that you all know, but a performance of new material and a full band sound!
